What Our Visitors Say
I been lookin’ for da perfect tulip since I retired from makin’ da perfect sheet at da Dee, and I found it at da West Houghton Tulip Festival.
Tom spends so much time analyzing the ‘marginal utility’ of a tulip that he forgets to actually look at them. I told him I’d take him on a real West Houghton ‘trail’ to see the wild varieties, but he started asking about the depreciation rate of his walking shoes. Some of us like the fresh air; others just like the fresh data.
No Joke! I saw a tulip poking through a six-inch snow crust on Agate Street today. That’s not just a flower; that’s a Houghton resident in plant form. Tenacious, slightly frozen, and refusing to move.
If we had known the soil in West Houghton produced tulips this bright, we might have spent less time looking for copper and more time looking for a nice vase.
I love the Tulip Festival. It’s the only time of year where the hills of West Houghton are covered in something that isn’t white, slushy, or corrosive to the undercarriage of my truck.
You know you’re at the West Houghton Tulip Festival when the ‘Official Floral Bouquet’ includes a complimentary scraper for your windshield. It’s the only place where ‘Spring’ is a suggestion, not a season.
